The Party

On Saturday, we hosted a birthday bash for my dear husband. He also billed it as a celebration of the anniversary of his marriage proposal - since he proposed to me last year on his birthday. So I guess his birthday will now be a double celebration every year - all the merrier.

We had about 50 people here, including the kiddos, and it was a great time. Caballo ballo (the yummy Nica-buffet), Flor de Caña rum, a barrel of beers, a coconut birthday cake, and a big hippo piñata filled with candies. How could it not be fun?

One of the best parts of this fiesta was that several new friends came by and it was a great opportunity to grow these relationships and incorporate them into our community here. New friends met old friends and family, and it was neat to see people make new connections, and for us to deepen ours.

And here's me with my dance partner, little Tito, who had promised me a dance ever since the wedding when he missed the dance party for going to bed too early.

The party was really wonderful, and of course an Augusta Soto party would not be complete with an extra surprise presentation! More to come on that in the next blog post...
