First foods

Now that William has turned six months, we are trying out different foods. We're starting with fruits and vegetables in different forms.

His first food was pureed butternut squash, which we tried on my birthday. He was more interested in the spoon than the food. It's all a new experience for him.

Not sure what he thinks of this strange new taste:

Then the next day, we tried banana. My sister recommended these cool little inventions which are a mesh bag with a handle attached, from which he can eat food. It's basically like eating through a strainer, and it allows him to be involved since he can hold it, and control how much he gets. He definitely seemed to like the banana.

Since then we've also tried these fruits and vegetables, mostly in that mesh bag for convenience. But now that we have a high chair (a hand-me-down thanks to Meghan & Rafa!), we may try some grabbable soft foods, and purees again. We'll see as we go what works best, and what he likes.

William Fernando's menu so far:
Avocado
Banana
Butternut squash
Carrot
Pear
Plum
Sweet plantain
Pipian (local type of squash)
Nispero (local fruit, one of Elder's favorites)
Mamon chino (rambutan, another local fruit)
Quequisque (local root vegetable, sort of similar to potato or yuca)
