On Friday evening, we were invited down to Managua for a barbecue at Roberto & Lucia's house. Since they came all the way up to Leon for Elder's birthday party, it was only fair that we come down from Leon to socialize with them.
At the last minute, the party changed location to their good friend and neighbor, Emilio's house. We brought over the grill and the meat from Roberto & Lucia's and had a lovely evening with old and new friends - Roberto & Lucia, Emilio, and Emilio's next-door neighbors Gabi & Oscar.

We had a wonderful time talking and laughing and eating wonderful food. We enjoyed getting to know Gabi & Oscar, who had lots of funny stories to tell about Oscar's childhood "traumas" which have affected him til today to the point that he doesn't like any kind of fruit, gets overly anxious about spills and hates getting dirty! But he had a good sense of humor about it all and we all had fun.
Elder and I left the little party "early" at 1am because Elder had to get up bright and early for his Saturday English class at 8am. The others continued gabbing and drinking until about 3am.
The next day, after Elder's English class, we headed back to Leon, where we had another social engagement - Karla's birthday party! Karla and her husband Boanerge had also come to our party, so we had to show up for hers. We ate yuca, guacamole and other snacks, and then they brought out the dinner plates! I had no idea they'd be serving a full meal and wished I hadn't snacked so much.
But the highlight was the karaoke rounds. Elder and I started it off since everyone was being shy, but soon after that, Boanerge took it over and showed off some surprisingly suave dance moves! Normally he's a pretty quiet guy, but get a couple drinks in him and he was doing the moonwalk and taking over the karaoke microphone.
